Published–PPA Magazine!!

Two years ago when we moved to Huntsville, Al I ventured into a new town in search of new clients. I knew it would be hard work, but, I was ready to take the plunge. Luckily I had met a sweet friend in Nashville at Grays workshop that just by happened lived about 30 minutes from Huntsville–Alyson Clemons. When she was booked, she would refer me to those clients. I tell you what people–it’s all about making connections, and NOT being selfish with our work. She truly helped get my name out to the area, and, really this past year my business is right where I want it to be. Of course–I continue to improve each and every day. 😉

I remember at the beginning of this year, I told myself, this year I wanted to be published. In the past I had been way to shy/nervous to even dare submit my work into anywhere. I figured there were way too many amazing photographers out there to choose from to be in a magazine, why in the world would someone pick me……WELL….little did I know….I get an email from Professional Photographers of America Magazine the first of May (2012) It went something like this….

I am the art director for Professional Photographer magazine. Our staff has recently viewed your work on your website and I am contacting you to see if you’d be interested in tentatively appearing in our July issue. The July issue will be highlighting engagement photography and we really liked your work in this area”.

My jaw literally dropped, and yes, I am about peed my pants…(which doesn’t take much after having two kids) haha….

I mean OF COURSE I was interested!!! So, I submitted whatever engagement pictures I wanted, and they chose what they wanted to use for the feature! I then was emailed by the big head chief editor–Jeff Kent with questions to answer for the magazine. It was so surreal and so humbling…I mean, thousands of photographers would be reading my words…how intimidating but so honoring! Shortly after speaking with Jeff he then emailed me with another humbling email:

“Are you interested in participating in another article? I’m writing an article on “telling the love story” in engagement and wedding photography, and I thought of you right away as the perfect source.”

Whaaaa?! Thought of ME right away….wow….I just love that, for one reason because I truly strive to be a relationship advocate with my clients…..and then that is what he titles the feature in the magazine.

So, here is to my FIRST publication!!!! 🙂 This is the pdf format, so the picture quality is not the best, but I wanted all to see and read who does not get the magazine. Thank-you all for your support and encouragement!!! (another side note that is SO cool…my name is on the front cover!!) ahh!!!
